Specify the width of your shutter The shutters are to look as though, if closed, they would cover your entire window. To calculate the correct size, take the width of your window and divide that by 2. Example: a window width of 36" would best be matched with a 18" wide pair of shutters. For double windows it is recommended to take the total window width and divide it by 4 to get your shutter width. For triple windows take the window width and divide it by 6 to get your shutter width. If you are unsure of what size shutter would look best we have some width guidelines listed below. |

Specify the Height of Your Shutter The shutter height should be the total window height, not including the sill. It should give the appearance that if the shutters were functional that they would cover the opening and/or glass. |

Specify the Height Fraction of Your Shutter The height fraction is the balance of the total shutter height. Example: If you require a shutter that is 57 1/2" the height fraction is the 1/2". If you need a shutter that is 57" then select 00" as the height fraction. |

Wonderful answer to a major problem, 9.7.2009 We are painting an 1894 home. Since we purchased it 22 years ago, the shutters, plastic, looked OK, but not really classy. Our best price locally was $500 per pair. None of the box stores would even order them. I did a Google search and came up with Architectural Depot, and found exactly what we wanted, including custom size. The 6 pairs were just a shade over $700. What a buy. But, would they be the quality we wanted. They exceeded our expectations. I will forward before and after photos. I don't have a photo with the ugly plastic shutters in place, but the front with and without shutters tells its own story. My paint contractor is really pleased I was able to give him a source for shutters as he does a lot of old homes |

Great Shutters, 8.10.2009 The shutters are beautiful, and a worthy replacement for our house's 80-year old shutters. We stained them and hung them, and they look perfect. We expect these to last for many years. |
