Great product. Looks great and goes up easy., 7.2.2009 I bought the 3" lally column wrap in cherry. I can't think of an easier product to cover those ugly basement poles. I put up 3 of them in about 45 minutes. You can't see the seam at all. The instructions were easy but I did it slightly different. Just cut it to the length you need and use the piece that you trimmed off to wrap around the pole to figure out where to cut the main piece to size. Lay the wrap on the floor with the finish side up and lay the small piece that you cut off on top of it and run a utility knife down the length. Make sure to take the time to bend the wrap at each little section so that it wraps evenly with no flat spots. Turn your wrap over and run construction adhesive down the length of the wrap on each side of the seam. Then run a bead about every 3 inches or so in the opposite direction across the width of the wrap. Stand it up and place the center against the pole and wrap it on around. Have some long zip ties / cable ties handy and use them to tighten the wrap on the pole until the seam is tight. Wrap a tie about every 6 inches or so to keep the seam tight all the way down. The seam is completely invisible. Let it dry for at least a day or two. Staining is easy once the adhesive has dried and you remove all the ties. I found applying the adhesive to the wrap was much easier than trying to apply it to the pole and by applying the adhesive every three inches the end result is almost like a metal pole that looks like wood. It’s so solid! |
