I found these lion appliques easy to stain (wood stain) and then antique (gold acrylic). They look wonderful. Drilling 2 small holes for screws was easy. They were placed above palladium windows where a shell appliques usually rests. For us, we have an English pub and these made the "Laughing Lion" look more in keeping with our British architecture. Many compliments.
