What is urethane?
Our urethane is a high density rigid urethane foam. It is not a soft foam like polystyrene.
How is it made?
Urethane is poured or injected in a liquid state into custom molds. Once in the molds a chemical reaction occurs, causing the urethane to expand and quickly harden. When fully formed, the products are removed from the molds, cleaned up and given an exterior grade ultraviolet (UV) stable coating.
How is it finished?
All of our urethane products come pre-primed and ready for your paint, faux finish, or gel stain. Standard wood stains will not penetrate the urethane like wood, but a gel stain can give you the similar color as traditional stains.
How is it installed?
Urethane can be installed in a similar fashion to that of wood. It can be cut, trimmed, modified, etc. using standard woodworking tools. Typically urethane is installed using Poly Urethane Construction adhesive and then secured using a pin nailer.
Can I use it on the interior and exterior of the home?
Our urethane products can be used in both interior and exterior applications. Urethane will not rot, splinter, or split the way wood does.
